Immunizations Ruling

The Pastoral Medical Association adopted a Resolution on immunizations May 29, 2011. PMA Resolutions are issued with the sole intent of providing scriptural guidance. The scientific element is not considered in forming such Resolutions unless specifically noted. In matters effecting health we encourage all individuals to seek professional advice and make decisions from a fully informed position, considering scriptural as well as scientific facts.

Can't convince the school that your family meets the standards for vaccine exemption?

Be in therefore Resolved on this 29th Day of May, 2011 that the Pastoral Medical Association does not support conventional immunization
as scripturally valid.

It is important to read the complete resolution here

We believe and support the God given right of every individual to choose or refuse conventional ideas that conflict with matters of conscience and sincerely held spiritual beliefs. Unfortunately, more often than not when parents decide to opt out of immunization for their children, they face considerable frustration. Their regular doctor makes them feel like "bad parents" and uninformed school system personnel make them feel like criminals. Add to that the "Yeah Right" looks you get when you claim religious exemption, and needless to say "going it alone" can be a lonely and frustrating road to travel.

To add to the frustration; most Churches do not support parishioners by issuing a mandate concerning immunization or issuing supporting documentation. Since States often require that the parent belong to an ecclesiastical organization who "believes" as the parent does, this can be a major hurdle.

The PMA Choice in Immunization (CIP) Program is designed to help those that have a sincere religious objection to conventional immunization take advantage of religious exemption. The CIP Program provides;

  • Free access to resources that will help parents learn more about immunization so they can make an informed decision.
  • Free access to State level information to help parents locate regulations and forms to opt out of immunizations if they choose.
  • Registration as a CIP supporting member of the PMA showing that you do hold membership in an ecclesiastical organization that supports your views on immunization. Registration includes preparation and secure storage of your "Statement of Belief" in the PMA secure database "for life". Members can request copies of the official statement anytime. Registration requires a one time processing fee of only $29 with no annual fee's.

If your Choice is to "not vaccinate", you can
register as a CIP Communicant here!
