Are you ready for the flu and cold season? At this time of year I get phone calls from clients asking if they should get a flu shot. This year is going to be different because of the vaccine shortage. For those of us who don't want a flu shot, or can't get one, there are a number of 'alternatives' to consider. 1. N-acetylcysteine (NAC), is a form of the amino acid cysteine. It is one of the most potent immune boosters around. NAC is completely safe, even for children. In studies, people taking NAC were 1/3 as likely to have flu symptoms as those not taking it. In addition, those who did get the flu had much quicker recovery and fewer symptoms while ill. 2.
