Albion’s Magnesium Produces Clinical Improvement in Asthmatics
St. Clair Shores, Michigan – Human Products Division: At the 13th Annual European Respiratory Society’s Congress (Vienna, Austria, Sept. 27 – Oct. 1, 2003), Dr. Clesio Amaral, et al. presented a significant finding on the effect of oral magnesium (Albion’s Magnesium Chelazome®) on the morbidity of asthma in children and adolescents. The study was double blind randomized placebo controlled design. The Magnesium Chelazome® group received 300 mg of elemental magnesium daily for two months. The protocol included periodical clinical evaluations, pulmonary function tests (FVC, FEVI, and FEF25-75), and assessing bronchial responsiveness to methacholine at the beginning and at the end of the protocol. The numbers of days with asthma attacks and the use of their asthmatic inhaler was significantly lower for the Magnesium Chelazome® group. In addition, the Magnesium Chelazome® group had significant improvement in all of the lung function tests. The complete study will be published in the “European Respiratory Journal”.
